YORK Lloyd E. Shearer, 89, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Manor Care - North Nursing Home. He was the husband of Doreen E. (Hopkins) Shearer, to whom he was married 63 years.
Mr. Shearer was born April 4, 1919, in Adams County, a son of the late George Daniel and Della May (Sheaffer) Shearer.
He was a former employee of Imperial Remodeling Contractors for 25 years until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Shearer was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of WWII, serving his country from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the VFW Post 5265.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Shearer leave behind two sons, Gary Shearer and wife, Mildred of Dover, and Rodney Shearer and wife, Patricia of N. Codorus Twp.; two daughters, Jacqueline F. Harlacker and husband, Donald, and Diane E. Kern and husband, Clifford, both of Dover Twp.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one stepgrandson; four step great-grandchildren; four step great-greatgrandchildren; a brother, George Shearer of New Oxford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
