Daughter of James "Jim" Monroe and Margarett Ledbetter Christopher. Wife of John Golden (married Lamar County, TX Oct. 14, 1878), Charley S. Nicks (married Lafayette County, AR Dec. 23, 1897) and George Thurman (married circa 1907 according to the 1910 LaSalle Parish Census). There is a vague story that the Nix marriage failed due to bigamy on Mr. Nix's part. Artilda was the mother of 6 children (see 1900 Saline County, Arkansas Census, married to Charley Nicks). The first child, Wiley N. Golden, was ten months old on the 1880 Red River Co. Texas Census (Born July, 1879). He is deceased by the 1900 census. Artilda would have four more living children: William Richard, Walter Samuel, Nora Bell and Fred. One other child is indicated on the 1900 census but is deceased.
