Michael was the first of 3 children born to Dorothy Stickney and James Fitzgerald. He grew up in Detroit, he went to Mumford High School, and later went to Cooley High. He was one of the founding members of the Highwaymen motorcycle club (way before they were notorious for "other" things!! He actually drew their club emblem). He was in the U.S. Navy. He married Barbara Ann Bradley in 1968 and had 2 daughters, Melinda Jo and Wendy Celeste, and a son, Michael, through his second marriage.. My parents divorced sometime around 1977. Although he never graduated high school, Michael's knowledge was infinite. His passions included reading and photography. He was a collector of many things, especially American-Indian artifacts. After Michael died, his body was cremated. His remains supposedly have been spread between 2 places, at his cabin in Harrison, MI and somewhere over Ireland.
Here's a funny story.. My dad could be quite the hell-raiser, not only in his adult years, but in adolescence as well. My dad and his school counselor at the time, a Mr. Brady, had some sort of argument or disagreement. To my grandmother's total shock and horror, my dad DROVE his motorcycle THROUGH the hallway of Mumford High school. He was then expelled and ended up at Cooley High, but never formally graduated.. Pretty cool, eh?
