James Albert Burkhart of Altoona died unexpectedly yesterday at his home. He was born in Altoona on April 7, 1904, a son of Albert and Mary Burkhart and was twice married first to Mary Haller, who died in 1941, then to Ruth (Emory) Johnson on July 26, 1957.
Surviving are his wife , a son James Jr., of San Pedro, Calif, four step-children. Mrs Louise Weaver of Port Matilda, Mrs. Ester Whitsell in Calif, Earl Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, and Mrs Helen Stine of the city. Also brothers Gilbert of Pittsburgh and Ralph of Hollidaysburg.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and employed as a pipefitter by PRR at East Altoona.
