The Lamar County Echo, October 1981. ' Alfred Paul Mankin, 60, of Abilene died Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Dyess Air Force Base Hospital. He was the father of Marsha Mankin Kraft of Paris. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 8 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Abilene, under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Burial followed Monday, Oct. 12 in the Arlington National Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 14, 1921 in Dallas, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Paul Mankin. He attended schools in Waco and graduated from Baylor University in 1948. He also attended McMurray College in Abilene. He married Evelyn Jenson June 1, 1943 in Waco. He was a World War II and Vietnam War veteran. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U. S. Air Force and a member of St. Paul Methodist Church.

Survivors, other than his daughter here, include wife; one son, Mark Leigh Mankin of Greenville; three grandchildren; and one brother, Clarence W. Mankin of Arcadia, Calif '.
