Sgt. Ronnie L. Shelley, Sr. of Valdosta passed away Saturday, July 30, 2005 after injuries sustained in Iraq while defending the freedom of our country. He was born on May 25, 1971 in Bibb County, Georgia. He loved his family, especially his children. After eight years in the United States Marine Corps, where he served proudly in the Persian Gulf War, he joined the Georgia Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie A. Shelley. Survivors include wife, Heidi Shelley, Valdosta, GA; two daughters, Logan Shelley, Valdosta, Allison Sutton, Valdosta; son, Ronnie "Lee" Shelley, Jr., Valdosta; mother and step-father, Lois and Jim Manley, Tifton, GA; sisters, Connie Beall, Valdosta, Laura R. Cowart, Valdosta, Angela Massey, Dacula, Tammy Therien, Lizella; half brother, Jeffery Shelley, Macon; half sister; two step brothers, Tony Newbern, Macon, Robert Newbern, Macon, and step mother, Ethel Shelley, Macon.
He is memorialized on Warriors Walk, Ft. Stewart, GA.
