Roman Catholic Cardinal. Imola born Sebastiano Galeati was ordained priest in September 1844 and after furthering his studies in Rome, was appointed to the teaching staff of the Imola Seminary, becoming successively within the local diocese, judge, prosynodal examiner, diocesan visitor and canon theologian of the cathedral chapter. Appointed bishop of the diocese of Macerata e Tolentino, Galeati received his episcopal consecration on August 14, 1881 at the Roman church of Ss. Trinità al Monte Pincio in Rome, along with Msgr. Giuseppe d'Annibale, assessor of the Sacred Congregation of the Holy Inquisition, future member of the Sacred College of Cardinals. Promoted to the metropolitan see of Ravenna on May 23, 1887, Pope Leo XIII created him cardinal priest in the consistory of June 23, 1890 with the title of San Lorenzo in Panisperna. Passing away in Ravenna, his body was laid to rest at the local cemetery.
