Edward O. Malone Jr., 70, of Fairmont, died Sunday at his home after an extended illness. He was born July 23, 1938, in Weston, the son of the late Edward O. Malone Sr. and Hilda Butcher Malone. He is survived by his wife Daine Everson Malone, of Fairmont. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and a daughter, including Joseph Malone at home and who attends Fairmont Senior High School and Leslie Malone at home and who attends North Marion High School. He is also survived by a cousin, Mary Ann Lamb of Weston; an uncle, Lorrie Hamrick of Sun City, Ariz.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Loretta Everson of Pleasant Valley; four sisters-in-law, Cheryl Newbraugh of Mrytle Beach, S.C., Tammy Everson of Huntington, Tracy and Dave Baccoof Canton, Ga., and Heidi Everson of Mt. Claire. Mr. Malone was a retired design engineer for the Monongahela Power Co. with 36 years of service. He was also a former manager for the Marion County National Guard Armory with over 40 years of service. He was a Methodist by faith. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 22 years. He was a 1956 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and a 1960 graduate of Fairmont State College with a degree in industrial arts. Mr. Malone enjoyed H.O. Trains and loved to the with family and friends. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Rd., Fairmont, Tuesday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Rev. Holley Faulkner officiating. The committal service will follow in the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
