DORTHA HELEN HEMMETER
Dorothy was the youngest child of George B. Halliwill and Mary Elizabeth Cramer.

Her name, with eminent fitness, occupies a conspicuous place in the profession which she adorned and her career, presented a series of successes such as few attain, gained for her much more than local reputation. Dorothy was a solid and influential business woman and she clearly stood out as an important long-time employee of the largest insurance agencies in Medina county and one of the most successful in the state. She achieved a wide and honorable reputation among the progressive men and women of the company and no one commanded a greater influence or stood higher in the esteem and confidence of her peers.

Dorothy's birth certificate, filed in Medina County, Ohio [Birth Records Vol. 3, p154], depicts the following: Dorothy L. Halliwell, a white female, born Jul 26 1907 in Seville, Medina Co., Ohio to George B. Halliwell and Mary E. Cramer. Dorothy and Laurence Hemmeter were united in 1947 by Benjamin J. Black Jr., as recorded in Medina County Marriages [Vol. R, p321, Cert 641]. This certificate reflects a birthplace as Rockcreek, Ashtabula Co., Ohio (see birth above) and that she was a resident of Seville in Medina Co.

Although the couple were childless, Dorothy reared her niece, Dorothy "Helen" Halliwell (a daughter of Glen C. Halliwell and Mamie Alice Barton) with the aid of her mother, Mary "Elizabeth".

Her funeral was under the direction of Waite and Son in Medina. In 1906, her father, George B., purchased five grave spaces in section 2N, lot 601. Inscriptions as acquired from monument: Dorothy H. Hemmeter 1907 -1989 | Hemmeter, Laurence B. 1905 - 1986, a World War II marker graces his monument.
