Son of John R. and Artilda Ann Christopher Golden. Husband of two women. His first wife is said to be Lena McLemore. She was the mother of Juanita Jewel Golden. Jewel was living with her Aunt Nora Lewis and Uncle John Edgar Lewis on the 1910 LaSalle Parish census and was three years old. William was single on the 1900 census and a widower on the 1910 census. He married secondly Dosha Griffith (married LaSalle Parish January 1, 1913). They had Johnnie, Artilda, Amanda, Sherman and Charles.

TROUT (Special) - William Richard Golden, 77, of Trout, died Wednesday night at his daughter's residence here.

Services were held Friday at 3 p.m. from Midway Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Carl Austin officiating. Burial followed in Belah Cemetery by Kinner-Stevens Funeral Home.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Esters, Trout; Mrs. Amanda Coon, Jena, Mrs. Artilda Cockerham, Midland Tex., and Mrs. Jewel Battarbee, Port Arthur, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Dora (sic Nora) Lewis, Jena; two sons, Charles, Midland, and Sherman, Trout; a step-son, Bill Squires, Pittsburgh, Kan., 37 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
