Faye Spencer - JOHNSON CITY
Mrs. Faye R. Spencer, 78, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009, at NHC Healthcare.
She was a native and life-long resident of Washington County, TN, and a daughter of the late Everett "Story" and Nell Taylor.
She was a member of Cherokee United Methodist Church. Mrs. Spencer, along with G.C., always enjoyed the buying and selling of antiques, NASCAR and fishing. She loved growing and working in her flowers, canning vegetables and cooking. She worked many years in different cafeterias across the county and she prepared many meals for Cherokee Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, G.C. Spencer; sister, Beulah Ragan; brother, Everett Taylor; step-brothers, Roy and Bob Keene; and step-sister, Juanita PaHud.
Survivors include a daughter, Janie Wilkinson and husband, G.W., Johnson City; step-daughters, Dianne S. Pace and husband, Jimmy, Inman, SC, Carolyn Raines-Harbin and husband, Ken, Surfside Beach, SC; step-son, Terry C. Spencer and wife, Joan, Inman, SC; niece, Nancy Symes and husband, Junior, Limestone, TN; sister, Mary Henley, Johnson City; special niece, Megan Sanders; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mrs. Spencer will be conducted at 3:30 PM Sunday, January 25, 2009, at Monte Vista Memorial Park with Rev. Michelle Buckles officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Henley, Steve Ragan, Ricky Pace, Greg Sanders, Wallace Taylor, Wesley Taylor and Brandon Hite.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, Mary Henley, 817 Harding Ave., Johnson City.
The family would like to say a special thanks to NHC Healthcare and especially to the staff at Station 3 for taking such excellent care of Faye and always being so very kind to her. Also, the nurses of Caris Hospice for the gentleness and love you have shown. May God bless each and every one of you. Thank you.
