Carroll retired after 23 years with the Baltimore County Fire Department. He was a life member of the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Baltimore County Retired Firefighters Association and the Knights of Columbus third degree. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of American Legion Post 116 of Reisterstown, a past commander of the Lt. Peter Zouck Post No. 521, VFW of Owings Mills, and a member of the Military Order of the Cootie of the United States.
