A graveside service for Eva Zelma Vaughn Brashear was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, at the Oak Knoll Cemetery, with Bill Churchwell officiating. Eastern Star graveside service followed under the auspices of the Bellville Chapter #611, Order of the Eastern Star.
Eva Brashear was born Sept. 2, 1916 in Cameron, Texas to parents Thomas Melton and Lena Evelyn Merritt Vaughn. She grew up and attended school in Cameron. From 1940 until 1978, Eva made her home in Houston where she was employed in sales at a gift shop. She returned to Cameron for a couple of years before moving to Bellville in 1981. For the past 3 years she had made her home in Tyler.
She enjoyed vegetable gardening and taking care of her yard. She also enjoyed sitting with people in the nursing homes and hospitals. She was a 50-year member of the Magnolia Chapter #706, Order of the Eastern Star.
Eva Zelma Vaughn Brashear passed away Thursday, May 15, 2003 in a Tyler hospital at the age of 86.
She is survived by her son, Sidney Earl Brashear of Houston; niece, Christine Sharman of Tyler; and nephew, Vaughn Hickman of Cameron.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home, Bellville, Texas.
