Earl W. "Dad" Klingler, 82, of 632 W. Walnut St. died at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 1989, in St. Vincent Health Center of Erie. Mr. Klingler was born at Turkey City, Aug. 18, 1907, a son of the late Charles and Katherine Martz Klingler. He was married to the former Brucie O. "Pat" Freeman on Feb. 11, 1941, at St. Louis, Mo. Mrs. Klingler died Aug. 15, 1981. Mr. Klingler owned and operated Dad's Corner Food Store at West Walnut and Spring streets from 1946 to 1976. In 1957 he restored the Church of God in Turkey City which had been vacated for 17 years. Services were started the summer of 1957 and continue today. He attended the Grace Fellowship and the Free Methodist Church of Titusville. Mr. Klingler is survived by a son, Earl John Klingler of Titusville; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Jean) Ataliotis of Aliquippa, Mrs. John (Joelene) Gulland of Titusville and Mrs. R. Dean (Judy) Shreffler of Knox; the following grandchildren: George Ataliotis, Dennis Ataliotis, Dr. Charles Gulland, John M. Gulland, Mark Gulland, Rene Shreffler, Cynthia Shreffler and Julie Shreffler; two great-granddaughters, Jessica Gulland and Amanda Gulland; two brothers, Charles Klingler of Mars and Daniel Klingler of Pleasantville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, four brothers, Roy, Edward, Peter, James Klingler, and four sisters, Cora Best, Pearl Gardner, Katherine DeHart and Emma M. Jones, died previously. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral service from the Free Methodist Church, West Central Avenue Extension, Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Larry Thomas, pastor, and Rev. Arnold Edmondson, pastor of the Church of God of Turkey City, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family has said memorial contributions may be made to the church or charity of one's choice."
