Ray Lund Dies; Rites Tomorrow

Ray Lund, an attendant at Napa State Hospital for a long time, passed away in a San Francisco hospital Monday night at 10:30 p.m. and will be accorded last rites at the Treadway Chapel tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Mr. Lund, who as a young man pitched for the Portland team of the Pacific Coast Baseball League, was 52 years of age. His death followed a lengthy illness.

Surviving him are his wife, Dorothy, a daughter, Nancy Rae, and two brothers, Arthur Lund, of The Dalles, Ore., and Milton Lund, fo Bremerton, Wash. He was a member of Seattle Lodge of Elks.

"Red" broke into professional baseball under
Earl Sheely, new manager of Scaramento,
in 1914,as a pitcher with Walla Walla in
the old West *Tri-State League.
He also pitched for the Salem
Senators in the old Northwest
League and during the last war
was a chucker with Duthles Ship-
yard club of Seattle which play-
ed here many times.
