Daniel W. Banta was the son of Isaac and Amy (Weeks) Banta. Frankie (Clark) Banta was his 1st wife. They were married in 1856. Mary Elizabeth (Shelby) Banta was his 2nd wife. They were married in 1864. Mary died October 7, 1906. Daniel organized the first band in Kansas City and was the leader for thirty years - Banta's Band. He played many brass and string instruments, including the violin. He served during the Civil War.
