She was born May 29, 1920, in Easytown, Ind., the daughter of George and Nancy Marie Elizabeth Faught Laws. She married John Grafton Allen on June 24, 1939; he preceded her in death in 1991.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, George C. Allen; and a daughter, Barbara Ann McLelland.
She is survived by a son, John (wife, Peggy) Allen of Herrick; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Velma Croft of Athens; a brother, George Laws of Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a resident of Springfield and Herrick for most of her life. She was a homemaker but also worked a short time at St. John's Hospital.
She attended Third Presbyterian Church and was a member of the women's association at the church. She was also a member of the Double Nickel.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at noon Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brent Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Third Presbyterian Church.
