Wedding Bells Again

Mr. Walter Godwin and Miss Carrie Smith Married Wednesday.

One of the prettiest home weddings of the season occurred at the residence of Judge David M. Smith Wednesday evening at half past eight o'clock. The contracting parties were Mr. Walter H. Godwin and Miss Carrie Belle Smith, and the ceremony was performed by Rev. Bascom Anthony, of Savannah.

The parlors, hall and reception room were very handsomely decorated with pot plants, palms and ferns and the wedding scene was an exceedingly pretty one. There were no attendants and only the relatives and a few intimate friends were present to witness the happy event. The ceremony as performed by Rev. Mr. Anthony, was a masterpiece in that line, being exquisitely worded and not confined to the form given in the Discipline.

After the ceremony some little time was spent in extending congratulations and good wishes to the happy couple and then the bridal party went to the home of Mr. S. B. Godwin where an elegant reception was held. Nearly all of those who attended the wedding were present and a feast of fruits, cake, ice cream, etc., was served.

The couple were recipients of a large number of handsome wedding presents from friends and relatives in this city, and these were exhibited in the reception room at Judge Smith's residence before the ceremony. Perhaps the handsomest present that has been bestowed upon a young couple in Valdosta came to them in the shape of a pretty home in the eastern part of the city from the father of the groom. The house is nearly completed and will be ready for occupancy in a few days. In the meantime, the young couple will board with the parents of the bride.

The groom is the second son of Mr. and Mrs.S.B.Godwin and is a member of the grocery and furniture firm of S. B. Godwin & Sons. He is a sober, sensible and energetic young man and a bright future is before him in the business world. His bride is the oldest daughter of Judge D. M.Smith and is an excellent young woman, being possessed of a good disposition, a strong womanly character and beauty of person.

The couple have been sweethearts since they were school children and the happy culmination of their courtship makes glad the hearts of a host of friends who wish them long lives of happiness.
