Andrew Burnett, died at her home one
mile north of Logansport yesterday
morning shortly after midnight. Although
Mrs. Burnett had been ailing
for some weeks past her condition was
not considered of a critical character.
and on Sunday she had been up and
about the house, her family having no
apprehension that the end was so near.
Her condition took a sudden change
for the worse, however, toward evening,
and death ensued a few hours
thereafter, being due to a trouble of
the heart of long standing.
Mary Jane Horn was born in Washington,
county, Pennsylvania, Sept. 15,
3S29, daughter of John Horn, who settled
in this county in the year 1849.
She was married on Feb. 4, 1S47, to
Andrew Burnett, In Highland county,
Ohio, and came to this region in 1S49,
for a time living in Fulton county, but
later coming to Cass county, where
they had continuously resided for
more than thirty years. Her husband
and two sons and one daughter survive
her. One son, John, resides north
of the city, while the other, George, is
o resident of Litchfield, Ill. The
daughter, Mrs. Hannah Funston, is a
resident of Harrison township. Mrs.
Burnett was a sister of Samuel and
Georse C. Horn and Mrs. A. J. Button,
a'' lately deceased. But one member
of that family remains, Levi D. Horn,
of Elwood, this. State. Mrs. Burnett
was a member of the Christian church
and was a woman who was very highly
regarded in the community in which
she had lived so long, and her death
comes as a matter of sincere regret to
her many friends.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from the
family residence on the Michigan road,
internment to be made in Mt. Hope
cemetery.
