Widow of John Tipton Succumbs at Memorial Hospital Funeral Rites Tuesday. Mrs. Nellie Montifort Tipton, 91, of 121 Ninth street, widow of John Tipton, died at 3:45 o'clock Monday morning at the Memorial hospital following a lingering illness. She had been a patient at the hospital since November, 1944. Mrs. Tipton's husband, who died in 1923, was the grandson Gen. John Tipton, Cass county's most distinguished pioneer citizen, Mrs. Tipton was born Sept 3,1856 and was a member of the Episcopal church. A niece. Mrs. Helen T. Herbert, city, who is a direct descendant of General Tipton, is the only survivor. Funeral rites will be conducted at 5:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the McCloskey-Hamilton chapel. Rev. C. C. Reisner of the Trinity Episcopal church officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. The body will remain at the chapel, where friends may call.
