Boyd worked for the Portland Fire Department for 31 years, retiring in 1972 as a Captain. He was a wonderful artist; working with oils, watercolors, pen and ink and charcoals. He married Elizabeth Geraldine Horr at Gorham, Maine in June of 1935. He and Elizabeth had two children; Linda Jean (1942) and Boyd Herbert (1946). He loved Long Island and boating and fishing. He was an excellent carpenter taking after his father Herbert Martin Drake, and enjoyed maintaining the family cottage on Long Island. He had four grandchildren whom he adored from his daughter's marriage. He was kind and loving and a good friend to all who knew him.
