3/23/1928 SERVICES FOR FIREMAN SET (Friday)
L.S. Alexander, Killed In Crash, To Be Honored In Saturday Rites
Funeral services for L.S. Alexander, 37 years old, deputy fire chief, who was injured fatally Thursday morning when a fire truck overturned at California avenue and Broadway, will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Central fire station, Chief George Goff announced Thursday night.
George Baker, 29 years old, fireman, who was injured, left the Oklahoma General hospital Thursday night and was taken to his home.
The truck driven by Lieut. Ervin Kincaid, swerved to avoid hitting a bakery truck, while on the way to a fire at 648 E. Choctaw avenue. The accident was Kincaid's first serious one in his nine years as a driver. Alexander had been with the department for seventeen years.
"Oklahoma City has lost a very valuable servant in Alexander." Chief Goff said, "There are no fire fighters any better than Alexander was."
Funeral arrangements are in charge of Garrison's.

Lloyd S. Alexander, 34 years old, 327 E. 31st street south, died at a hospital here Thursday following an accident. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Alexander, and two daughters, Vivinan and Marie of the home address, father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. V.R. Alexander, 1108 N. Pennsylvania avenue; four sisters, Mrs. G.B. Henderson, Mrs. W.R. McWilliams and Mrs. L.P. Gipford of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Hugh Rich of Amarillo, Texas, and three brothers, Lynn Alexander of Fordland, Mo., and Fred Alexander and Ross Alexander of Oklahoma City. Burial services will be announced by Garrison's.

Funeral services for Lloyd S. Alexander, 37 years old, who died at a hospital here Thursday following an accident, will be conducted from the central fire station at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, by Rev. Rupert F. Nancy, under direction of Garrisons. Burial will be in Sunny Lane cemetery.

4/12/1928 Pension Announced For Fireman's Widow (Thursday)
Award of a pension of $95 a month to Mrs. Ethel C. Alexander, widow of L.S. Alexander, assistant fire chief, who was killed in action March 22, was announced Wednesday by the city pension commission.
Mrs. Alexander also may receive $1,000 from the city, as it has been customary to give this amount to the widows of firemen and policemen, killed while on duty. She also is to receive one day's pay from each member of the fire department, amounting to about $750 in all.
