Lucius Hubbard, Spanish War Veteran, Dies Here Friday
Lucius V. Hubbard, 70, 1006 Eighth avenue north, Spanish war veteran, died Friday at a local hospital. He had been ailing for some time and of late years had frequently been a patient at the veterans' hospital at Fort Harrison.
Funeral services will be held at the O'Connor chapel at 11 Monday morning. The Rev. Friend Day will have charge of the services and burial with full military honors, conducted by the Charles French camp of the United Spanish War Veterans, will be in the veterans' plot in Highland cemetery.
Hubbard was born April 11, 1873, in Red Wing, Minn. In 1928 he came to Brady, where he farmed for two years. Since then he had made his home in Great Falls. He was a member of the Charles R. Bond camp of the United Spanish War Veterans of Minneapolis.
He served as first lieutenant with the 15th regiment of Minnesota volunteers in the Spanish-American war. His father, Lucius F. Hubbard fought in the Civil war, was a brigadier general in the Spanish-American war and served as governor of Minnesota from 1882 to 1887.
Survivors are his wife, Agnes Garin Hubbard of this city, and several cousins.
