G. Maxine Basler, 86, of Amarillo died Sunday, April 5, 2009.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in The Church at Quail Creek with the Rev. Dale Moreland officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Maxine was born June 4, 1922, in Ava, Mo., to William and Erca Lee Stafford. She grew up in Missouri and went to college at Southwest Baptist College.

She taught in rural schools in Douglas and Grant counties, and Ulysses, Kan. During the war, she worked in accounting at Boeing.

She married Frank Basler in 1951 in Mountain Home, Ark. She was a lifelong Baptist, being saved in her teens in Goodhope, Mo., and was baptized in Perryton in 1972 with her husband and children.

She had volunteered with the Satellite School in Perryton. They moved to Amarillo in October 1985 and have been members of The Church at Quail Creek for more than 23 years. She was an active member of the Rainbow Life Group.

She enjoyed drawing and sketching, and she valued her home and family. She was a loving wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry Stafford and William Harrison Stafford; and a sister, Nadine Murray.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Basler of Amarillo; a son, Grady Basler of Austin; a daughter, Tonya Stout and husband Stan of Amarillo; a sister, Bonnie Davis of Sumpter, S.C.; three grandsons, Ryan Stout and wife Tisha, Jeremy Stout and wife Wendy and Kevin Stout and wife April; and six great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Odyssey Hospice, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106; or The Church at Quail Creek Activities Center Fund, 801 Tascosa Road, Amarillo, TX 79124.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
