"Daddy, 1861
Charles Bloomer Osgood was born in New York City April 7, 1840. At the age of 20 he married Lucy Carpenter who died n 1883. A son Sammy and a daughter Albey passed away when quite young. In 1886 he married Martha Jane Irish, 6 children were born Charlene, Florence, Evelyn, Jennie, Lucy and Myrle.
In 1861 he joined a Company of Zuraves (Zouaves?) in New York City and marched to war, was wounded, discharged and came to Minn. He reinlisted (sic) in 1865 in Co. C. and served until the end of war. In his early years he felt the need of a Savior-joined Methodist church. Services were held in J. A. R. Hall Sun afternoon Jan 1908"
