Ray Pullium
Ray Carl Pullium, 94 of Andrews, died Sunday, July 13, 2008
A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Cross and Minnie West Pullium.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. His medals include Legion of Merit and Bronze Star. He retired as a chief warrant officer, fourth grade, after 30 years of service.
He later worked for Magnavox in Andrews. He was a member of Andrews Masonic Lodge. He was a Shriner and member of Andrews United Methodist Church. His hobbies included golfing and gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ruth Barton Pullium; two sons, Ray C. Pullium, Jr. and wife Helen of Alexander City, Ala., and Jerry B. Pullium and wife Kathy of Savannah, Ga.; and granddaughter, Jennifer Pullium of New York.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, with Rev. Paul Hacklander officiating. Burial will be in Moss Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Andrews VFW Post 7620. Pallbearers will be Bob and Joe Barton, and Jack, Bill, Mark and Steve Mintz.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p. m. Wednesday, July 16, at Ivie Funeral Homes, in Andrews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Moss Cemetery Fund, c/o Don Cook, P.O. Box 243, Marble, NC 28905.
Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, is in charge of all arrangements.
