John Calvin Warner
Birth: Feb. 23, 1882
Ingham County
Michigan, USA
Death: Jan. 24, 1966
Ingham County
Michigan, USA

John-9 Calvin was the son of Calvin-8 Franklin "Frank" Warner and his wife Charlotte Almira Croninger.

5 WARNER siblings: Sarah Eliza, Otis Franklin, Donald Tracy "Don", [Self], Myra Louise Zuchowski & Schuchaskie, and Henry Donnelly "Harry" [Sr.].

John-9 Calvin's father, Calvin Franklin "Frank" Warner joined the Civil War and was wounded in that conflict. This caused hardships for young John and his siblings.

Each had to carry the heavy load of farming the acreage that their mother and father owned in Wheatfield Twp., Ingham, MI. Things became extremely difficult when their father's legs were amputated two years apart...and an arm was scheduled for amputation, but he died just before that could happen. John was just 12 years old when he became fatherless. His mother, Charlotte, did give a home to her father, Jacob Croninger, so there was an adult male presence in the home until Jacob passed away in 1900.

John married Minnie [May] Edith Johnson at the home of her parents in Podunk, Leroy Twp., Ingham, MI, on August 17, 1904.

4 WARNER children:

1. Fred Everett Warner
2. Roy Edwin Warner
3. Russell Lewis Warner
4. Irma Ione Pollok Warner

John's mother, Charlotte Almira (Croninger) Warner, spent her last years living with John and his wife Minnie. Charlotte died in 1913.

In about 1915, John and Minnie purchased recreational and income-producing property "up north" near East Tawas City, Isoco, MI, on Indian Lake, and many wonderful memories of family get-togethers and over-nights were shared. Fishing, boating, nature hikes, blueberry picking, hunting---all the good wholesome times that any family could ask for---which lasted for 3 generations.

John was an avid and skillful hunter, and there are many pictures of him with his deer kills, skunk pelts and freshly caught fish.

Still later in life, he and his wife bought Florida property and began traveling there to spend the winter months.

Some of his relatives still travel to Florida to escape the Michigan winter and hold annual Warner reunions, as well as attend the Annual (100th as of 2015) David-6 Calvin Warner, Jr. and Olive Rawson Reunion in August, in Michigan.
