Galva, IL - Russell D. Hanson, 67, of Galva died at 9:47 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at Kewanee Hospital, Kewanee, IL.

Russell was born Oct. 18, 1941, in Kewanee, the son of Lloyd and Helen (Lincoln) Hanson. He married Judith Frey on Aug. 16, 1963, in Pittsfield, Ill.

She survives, as do three sons, Christopher (Erica) of Champaign, Ill., Rick (Carrie) of Reedsburg, Wis., and Kevin of Chicago; his sister, Patricia "Pat" (Clifford Jr. "Babe") Doss of Galva; and six grandchildren, Austin, Shelby, Hunter, Alyssa, Caleb and Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter and grandson in infancy.

He was raised in Galva and attended Galva High School.

He farmed in the Galva area for many years and worked at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg until his retirement in January 2004. After his retirement, he worked part time for the city of Galva.

He enjoyed bowling and was an avid woodworker. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.
