US Congressman. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, in 1808, studied law, was admitted to the bar and opened a private law practice in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In 1823, he was elected as a Crawford Republican to the Eighteenth Congress, serving until 1825. He relocated to Florida and served as Leon County Judge in 1838 and 1839. He then resumed the practice of law until his death at age of 50.
