Son of Josiah Strong and Eleanor White

Married Martha Green, 1793

Inscription

He was a soldier of the Revolution. On the 17th day of May 1776 he was taken prisoner on the Canada frontier, in which captivity he endured great privation and suffering. He joined General Washington's army at White Plains in Oct. 1776 and was in the battles of Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, and Germantown, at which latter place he received a wound in his right leg which rendered an amputation necessary and made him an invalid for life. He belonged to that mighty race of men who devoted their services and their blood to the achievement of American Freedom.
