Professional Basketball Player. He played at the guard and forward positions for twelve seasons (1971 to 1983) in the National Basketball Association with the Buffalo Braves, San Diego Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks. Born Randolph Smith, he attended Bellport High School and excelled at soccer and track in addition to basketball during his collegiate years at Buffalo State College. Smith's career NBA highlights include two-time All-Star selection (1976, 1978), and MVP of the 1978 All Star game. He played ten consecutive seasons from 1972 to 1982 without missing a game. In 976 career regular season games, Smith scored 16,262 points, with 4,487 assists. Following his playing career, he served as director of player programs for the NBA. He was inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame in 1992.
