NOTE: Ardelia's year of birth has always been controversial. Through current genealogical research and family records in our hands, her date of birth is as shown above and not as shown on her headstone or as stated in the Obituary below. She was actually 89 years old at death as per our current records.

Ardelia is the daughter of John Jefferson and Melinda Goodson McCurdy. Delia lived most of her life in Sevier County, Arkansas. She was a young neighbor to Marksey Todd who became her husband. His 1st wife, Laura Crawford Todd, died during or shortly after having their first child and Delia who was a neighbor, came to help with the baby - or so the story goes. Orphaned by age 11, she must have done a fine job and really liked it as she stayed and married M. L. Todd and had 13 children. Of those 13 babies, 11 lived to grow up including the son born to he and his first wife that she raised, along with 10 of her own. Delia was a very soft spoken, kind woman who made the most beautiful quilts and loved babies. A hard worker, her family was the most important thing in her life. Beside raising her own children, she helped raise several of her grandchildren from time to time. She was adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren and lived to know many of them. A woman of Scots-Irish decent and of true pioneer spirit, she lived through terrible hardships in her lifetime including the very tragic loss of her youngest daughter,
Annie Arminta Todd*
It was my honor to meet her even though I was very young. I remember her sweet face and kind manner and I remember the huge stack of quilts in the corner of a bedroom. She is the reason I exist and I will think of her always.

Rest peacefully Great Grandma Todd and know how much we think about you and talk about you and that we always will....
