John Wilkes Booth's twenty-one-year-old niece, the daughter of his brother. Blanche Booth De Bar, an actress, was the daughter of Junius Brutus Booth, Jr. with his first wife, and the niece of actor Ben De Bar. After Lincoln's assassination Ben De Bar and Blanche De Bar were investigated for possible complicity because of their friendship with John Wilkes Booth, but both were cleared. Blanche Booth De Bar made her stage debut in 1865 at Ben De Bar's Theatre in St. Louis, as Kate Hardcastle in "She Stoops to Conquer." She then toured the West and South in starring roles. In 1868 the actress married George Riddell. Blanche De Bar's New York debut was in 1869, at the theater of Edwin Booth, her uncle.
