Co-Author, Cave Explorer, Brother of William "Floyd" Collins. Homer Collins was the Younger Brother of Floyd Collins who was Trapped in "Sand Cave" in 1925. Homer when he knew of his Brothers' entrapment went into the cave with a brand new suit he just bought in Louisville, Ky. He never gave up trying to free his Brother from the cave. He worked himself to exhaustion, never taking NO! for a answer even in the face of the "Kentucky National Guard". After all hope had failed and Floyd Died, not willing to let his Brother and Lifelong Friend lie in a cold dark cave, traveled around the country to raise up the money needed to free his Brother, telling the story of Floyd and the events of his rescue attempt. When he had the money a new "Shaft" was sunk and his Brother was finally removed from the Sand Cave. and Buried April 26th, 1925. After all most three months his Brother Floyd was free. Homer not willing to stay in "Cave Country" after his Brothers Death, with so many Memories of Him and his Brother Moved to Louisville, Ky where he died of Liver Trouble in 1969, 8 year after they closed the Cave his brother was so Famous for "Crystal Cave" (January 18th, 1917 - 1961).
