Singer Alice Mae along with her sister, Janet Ertel, were two of the orginal members of the Chordettes in 1946, who later had hits with "Mr. Sandman" and "Lollipop." The Chordettes were formed in September 1946 and Alice Mae left the Chordettes during the summer of 1947. She was replaced by Carol Hagedorn, who would later marry Alice Mae's brother and become Alice Mae's sister-in-law.
