Major League Baseball Player. Born Carlton Francis Willey, he was a pitcher for eight seasons (1958 to 1965) with the Milwaukee Braves and New York Mets. He was a member of the 1958 National League Pennant-winning Braves' team, and appeared in one game during the World Series. In 1958 he was named The Sporting News Rookie Pitcher of the Year in the National League, when he posted a 9 win and 7 loss record with a 2.70 ERA in 23 appearances. In 199 career regular season games, Willey won 38 and lost 58 with a 3.76 lifetime ERA. He attended Cherryfield Academy and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his baseball career, he worked in his family's hardware store, served as a scout with the Philadelphia Phillies and started a house painting business.
