Kathleen A. "Fudgie" Kulland, 93, of Gresham, formerly of Astoria, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, in Gresham.
She was born March 31, 1916, in Astoria, to Eli and Vivian (Watson) McConkey. She was raised in Astoria and graduated from Astoria High School in 1934.
In 1935, she married EVERETT P. FUDGE in Astoria. He preceded her in death in 1967.
In 1970, she married CLARENCE KULLAND. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Mrs. Kulland worked at various jobs, including being a cook with the school district and working at Uptegrove Plywood Mill. She then worked for First National Bank, both in Astoria and Seaside, for more than 38 years. After retiring, she moved to California, Washington, and, in 2003, to Gresham, where she remained until her death.
Family members said her hobbies included crocheting, iris gardening, cross-word puzzles and playing pinochle. She loved to write letters to family and friends and always would remember a birthday, anniversary and holidays. She loved dogs.
She is survived by a sister, Virginia Hendrickson of Astoria; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marjorie Prieto of Prineville and Joni and Steve Crick of Greenville, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Millard and Judy Fudge of Gresham; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence E. "Larry" Fudge, on July 10, 1994.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Astoria Christian Church. A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Astoria Christian Church or a charity of one's choice, in care of Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
