Katherine Campbell Groner widow of General Virginius D Crowner, daughter of the late Justice John A Campbell of the Supreme Court, and mother of Judge D Lawrence Groner, of the United States District Court died last evening.
On her mother side she was descended from the Goldthwaite family of Alabama. She was born in Mobile Alabama and moved to Washington DC in 1852 on the appointment of her father as an associate justice of the Supreme Court.
When the Confederate War began she went with her father to Richmond, and shortly after the war she married General Croner. She had lived in Norfolk for more than 50 years.Her father was a member of the famous peace conference held during the War Between the States wiat a view to ending the war.
She wa one of the oldest communicants of Christ Church and took a great interest in all of the activities of the church.
Shei is survived by three sons. J A Groner, Judge D Lawrence Groner and Robert N Groner, and two sisters Mrs. Frederick M Colston and Mrs Runa Campbell both of Baltimore.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Christ Church with Dr F C Steinmetz officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery
