Founder Dies in Boston


Boston, (AP) - George H. Swift. 73, whose father, Gustavus F. Swift, founded the Swift and company meat packing firm, died last night in the Ritz Carlton hotel where he made his home.

He was one of the company's directors before his retirement in 1949 and had been a resident here since 1906 when he took over the firm's New England interests.

He was a native of Chicago.

He left his widow, the former Lucille Darst Casey, formerly of Chicago; one son, George, Jr., of Evansville, Ind., and three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Reeve of Manchester, Mass., Mrs. Everett Van Nice of Chicago, and Mrs. DeForest P. Davis of Lake Forest, Ill.
