Ex-Santa Fe Woman Dies
Word was received today of the death in Milwaukee of Mrs. Emory Addison Stedman, formerly of Santa Fe. Mrs. Stedman had been in failing health for some time.
Mrs. Stedman was the widow of Emory Addison Stedman, vice president of Railway Express Agency. A messenger with the old Wells-Fargo Express Company of legendary fame Stedman rose through the ranks and was in charge of the company's entrance into New York in the 1880's. He became associated with that with Railway Express Agency when that organization took over all express operations.
During his first years with Wells-Fargo on of Stedman's feats was carrying the payroll for soldiers under Gen. Custer just before the battle of the Little Big Horn.
Stedman died in Santa Fe on Oct. 15, 1937 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Mrs. Stedman will also be buried in Fairview.
After Stedman's death Mrs. Stedman remained in Santa Fe until 1945 going then to Milwaukee. She was a member of a pioneer Chicago family, two of her brothers being born in a house that stood on the present site of the Palmer House, famous Loop hotel.

Graveside services for Mrs. E. A. Stedman, formerly of Santa Fe, who was struck and killed by an automobile in Milwaukee last week, will be held at Fairview Cemetery tomorrow morning...
