Catherine/ Katharina Baldizar/Boldizar Horony is the spouse of Dr. Michael Horony and mother of Mary Katherine Cummings, a.k.a. Big Nose Kate.

It is thought she is either buried in the Potters Field or next to her husband who is buried in plot 245. This info according to the Davenport Special Collections Library. Both graves were originally unmarked because they wer, at one time, washed away by the flowing Mississippi River. However, this BEAUTIFUL stone was set in place in 2019.

Catherine/Katherina came to America via Steamship in 1860. She is also the mother to Julius, Alexander, Katherine, Louis, Wilhemina, and Rosa Horony and step mother to Emelia Horony Sushemihl and Victor Horony.

Catherine/Katherina died at home and her physician husband, Michael, a month later.

Special thanks to Amy at the Davenport Special Collections Library for her extensive research and info given to me for publication and to Korey for his recent research!!
