FREEMAN Charles O. Freeman, of Mobile, AL, entered the presence of his Father on July 29, 2009 at 72 years of age following a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, and caretaker, Judi, son Terry and wife Elizabeth of Houston, TX, son Tim and wife Kelly of Mobile, AL, and four grandchildren T.J., Julia, Timmy, and Will (Charles often said, "they don't call them grand for nothing"). Charles is additionally survived by his sister Betty Waters of Warner Robbins, GA and a very special sister-in-law, Peggy Spurlock, of Mobile, AL. Charles was born on July 4, 1937 in Neely, MS to William and Caroline Freeman as the youngest of nine children. After his early life in Neely, Charles' vocational pursuits included time in the U.S. Air Force, aircraft mechanic, pastor, and general contractor. Of these, preaching and leading souls to Christ as a pastor were his life's calling. Charles loved to preach God's Word and was devoted to His service. Later in life, he resigned his last post to spend more time with his family for which he also cared deeply. Charles' final years were marked with progressive physical challenges as a result of Parkinson's disease. In the beginning he joked about having the "PD Blues" but later was totally dependant on his wife Judi and the many who helped her care for him. Throughout his illness, Charles never lost his passion for, and devotion to, Christ. His family rests assured that Charles has reached his final destination with the complete favor of the Father. The family will greet friends at the Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville, MS on Sunday August 2, 2009 at 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held there as well commencing at 3:00 pm followed by a graveside remembrance at Mutual Rights Methodist Church in Avera, MS. Cakes by Judi would like to extend a heartfelt Thank you" to all of our loyal customers and friends who have consistently asked about and prayed for Mr. Charles throughout the years!
