Jerry Burks
A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, Aug. 7, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland for Jerry A. Burks of Eugene, who died July 30 of age-related causes at age 79.
He was born March 21, 1930, in Chickasha, Okla., to Grover and Pearl Crum Burks. He married Murriel Scott in March 1953 in Vancouver, Wash. They later divorced.
He graduated from University High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force between 1950 and 1952. He worked as a lumber grader at area lumber mills, retiring from Zip-0-Log.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Williams of Vancouver; a son, Scott of Mollala; three brothers, R.D. of Eugene and Howard and Ben, both of Sutherlin; and three grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A daughter, Charlotte Burks, died in 2001.
