He illustrated the book 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,' and also designed the costumes and scenery for plays such as 'Wizard of Oz' and 'The Pearl and the Pumpkin.' He has a cenotaph located in Grove Street Cemetery, New Haven, Connecticut.
