Bill Abbe, 74, retired Hercules employee, died Tuesday in Alaska. Service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 1999, at College Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. David Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at McGregor Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor.

Bill was born in McGregor, Texas, to the late Simon Milford and Annette G. (Miller) Abbe. He was a 1942 graduate of McGregor High School and later attended McLennan Community College. On June 21, 1957, he married Neta Jean Stone in Hillsboro. An active member of College Avenue Baptist Church, he taught Sunday School in earlier years and was ordained a deacon March 4, 1962. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Neta Abbe, of McGregor; sons, Bill Abbe,Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Manassas, Va., David Abbe and wife, Donna, of Huricane, W. Va., Mark Abbe and wife, Patricia, of Arlington; grandchildren, Marisa Abbe, Cara Abbe, Erica Abbe and Harrison Abbe; and brothers, Kenneth Abbe and Jack Abbe, both of Dallas and Alan Abbe, of Georgetown.
