FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT DIES
Elmer E. Coddington, age 76, a former resident of Valparaiso, died Tuesday morning in Fairview hospital, LaPorte. He had undergone a surgery last Saturday.
Before going to LaPorte in 1897, where he was engaged in the hardware business for 35 years, Mr. Coddington resided in Valparaiso.
He was born near Abingdon, Ill., on Jan. 6, 1862. On March 15, 1883 he was married at Hebron, Ind., to Charlena Parkinson, who preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 1911.
Surviving are one daughter, Miss Flossie Coddington, of LaPorte; two sons, Arthur B. Coddington, of LaPorte, and Linton Coddington, of Springfield, Ill.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cutler funeral home in LaPorte. Wilbur Cooper, of Valparaiso, is a cousin of the decedent.
