Enlisted in Monongahelia County, Virginia, as a private and served 12 mo the u Der Captains Daugherty and Catt under Colonel John Evans and General McIntosh in Virginia detachment of troops. He was born July 1 1755, died February 12 1835, and
is buried in the Tennant Cemetery, 3 miles from Mooresville, Monongahelia County. Haught married Sarah Jones, in 1825, Green County, Pennsylvania, with David Worley as the minister, Sarah Haught died, April 16 1857. Their children were Frances, John, Jacob, and Benjamin.
The soldier applied for pension in Monongahelia County, in 1832, and received pension, but it was dropped later. There followed a long period of litigation , which at length resin arrearages being paid to the heirs of Peter Haught. bounty land of 160 acres was also given to Haught. particularly interesting are the statements of Samuel Minor, Joseph Tennant, and Captain John Lantz in his support.
John Tennant said "My Father Richard Tennant emigrated from Scotland with others in the 16th year to the colony of Virginia in 1755 and settled soon afterwards on the South Branch of the Potomac near Moorefield ,he there became acquainted with the Haughts who were Germans. He married the sister of Peter Haught in 1764 or 1765. Every man at that day learn the use of the firearms for necessity on account of the frequency of Indian atrocities and were also taught a certain amount of military discipline. My father and Peter Haught the ladder not more than 16 or 18 years of age were out in the Dunmore campaign in 1774 under Captain Summers in the division under General Lewis.

In 1775 my father immigrated to Monongalia County and was so pleased with the country that he returned to the South Branch and persuaded Peter, Tobias and Henry Haught to accompany him to Monongalia in 1776 Tobias and Henry after the breaking out of the Revolutionary War returned to the South Branch enlisted in the Virginia state line and lost their lives in service there was a requisition for man from 1778 to 1780 to serve against the Indians of the Northwest my father and Peter Haught were among those who went out in 1780."
The above Richard Tennant died I. 1822, aged 85.
