Elvin Lloyd Bailey, 89, of Wann, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday morning at the Caney Nursing Center in Caney, Kansas. Services are scheduled for Saturday, August 8 at 10:00a.m., in the Wann Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Compston officiating. Interment will follow at the Wann Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home between 6:00p.m. and 8:00p.m. Friday. Funeral services are under the direction of the Benjamin Funeral Home of Nowata.



Mr. Bailey was born to Elmer and Sabre Marie Mayfield-Bailey on March 24, 1920 at Buckgrove, Iowa. He was raised and received his education in Coffeyville, Kansas. Elvin married Claudine King on April 28, 1943 in Kingman, Arizona. Elvin served in the Army during WWII and was a member of the 393 Engineers. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 441 for 61 years. Elvin retired in 1982 and since that time, he and Claudine have enjoyed raising cattle and gardening on their farm.



Elvin was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, L.J. "Jim" Bailey, Armin Bailey, Dennis Cessna, Clarence Cessna, John Cessna, and Orlo Cessna; and by two sisters, Margaret Ann Smith and Mildred Bailey Forgey.



Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Claudine of the home in Wann; two sons, Lynn Bailey and his wife Judy of Wann and David Bailey and his wife Judy of Sapulpa; by four daughters, Joyce Huddleston of Topeka, Kansas, Judy Ann Wood and her husband Mike of Bartlesville, Mary Ellen Johnson and her husband Wally of Bartlesville, and Donna Hoffman and her husband Joe of Wann; by 18 grandchildren; and by 30 great-grandchildren.
