Miss Nellie Penland was united in marriage to Mr. John W. Geyer in Goshen on November 4th, 1893.

In 1900, Nellie was caring for four small children in her Elkhart-county home: Elden, 6, Ethel, 4, Lawrence, 2, and Walter, 8 months old.

In 1910, the family was living in Missaukee county, Michigan. John & Nellie had seven children with them: Eldon C., 15, Ethel F., 14, Lawrence M., 12, Walter Franklin, 10, Bertha C., 7, Blanche E., 5, Earl Ray, 2.

Eldon (b.1894) eventually married Rosena McDougald, daughter of Neil & Nellie, in Ypsilanti in 1921. Ethel F. (1896) married J. Irving Rose, son of Fred & Martha, in Grand Rapids in 1916.

Lawrence married Gladie M. Hinton, daughter of Robert & Elza, in Flint, Michigan, in 1923. Bertha (1902) married Henry Rykse, son of William & Frances, in Butterfield, Michigan, in 1921.

Obituary
Mrs. Nellie Geyer, 57, wife of Jno. Geyer, died at the Brighton, Michigan, general hospital Friday evening. The deceased was a former resident near New Paris and her home was in Detroit.

Survivors are the husband, four sons, Alvin of Battle Creek, Mich., Lawrence of Milford, Mich., and Walter and Earl of Detroit, and 3 daughters Mrs. Irving Rose and Mrs. Henry Riese of Detroit, and Mrs. Lawrence Smith of Brighton. The body was brought to the Jesse Metz home Saturday and funeral services held at the New Paris church of the Brethren, Tuesday.
