William Townsend Duer died last evening at his home in Corning, aged 75 years, 10 months, and 6 days. The funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in Corning, Thursday, July 15th at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. B. Crewdson, and burial was made in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Duer was born in Ohio, September 7, 1850. He came to Adams County 50 years ago and has been one of the substantial citizens of the community. On November 21 1878 he was married to Mary Ella Hicks, who survives him, together with the following children: Mrs. Charles Adams, Corning; Mrs. Arthur A. Marting, San Francisco, California; John Duer, Bradwell, Sask., Canada, Carl Duer, Omaha, Nebraska. Besides the above he leaves a sister, Mrs. Howard Pillsbury of Cambridge, Illinois, six grandsons and two granddaughters. About 16 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Duer moved from their farm to Corning, which has since been the family home.
